First Eucharist
This Sacrament, along with First Reconciliation, is celebrated in Grade two (2) and preparation begins in September as soon as the children return to school. The parents of children presently in Grade one (1) and up at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School, at the French or Public schools must register their child on one of the following weekends - May 29th & 30th or June 12th & 13th, 2010 after Sunday Mass, if you wish your child to receive these Sacraments in 2011.
Please bring your childs' Baptismal Certificate with you at the time of registration. These are the only dates on which your child can be registered. Failure to register on one of these dates, means your child will have to wait until the year 2012.
If you are newly arrived in the Parish after July 1st, please register your child at the 5:00 p.m. Mass or 9:00 or 11:00 a.m. Mass on the weekend of September 18/19. Please bring a photocopy of your child's baptismal certificate with you.
Since parents are the first teachers in the ways of faith, this parish honours that responsibility. At our parent meetings you will receive the necessary material to grow your child’s understanding of First Eucharist. The parish will work with you in helping your child understand, as will the Principal and teachers of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School. This partnership of home, school and parish will complete all of our responsibilities towards your child.
The Sacraments arise from the Parish Community and so families are expected to be in regular attendance at Sunday Mass.
